Social Sciences 98/100 in standard ten.

Bhabha silver medallist award for being a young scientist ( Oct 1998).

Research Presentations
A)International presentations
- Our research project titled “An analytical study of the incidence
rates, efficacy of intervention studies and mortality rates of HIV in 14
hospitals in Mumbai from December 2003 to May 2004.”was selected for a
poster presentation in the International Symposium on Emerging Viral
Infections hosted at National Institute of Virology, Pune on the 11th,
12th and 13th of October,2004
- Represented India in
the London International Youth Science Forum as the first Indian Woman
Young scientist and presented my research paper on “Transgenics” based on
my research stint at the Cancer Research Institute, Mumbai.
- Our
team secured the first place in the Science Forum Olympiad held in
London in the London International Youth Science Forum, July 2002
- Our
team secured the first place in the great train race in The London
International Youth Science Forum, July 2002
- Have contributed to the
success of the international science conference “Gosumeet” held at
Seth G.S.Medical College celebrating its platinum jubilee
B)National Presentation
- My team represented our
college in an intercollegiate symposium hosted by the Armed Forces
Medical College of India and presented on the topic of “Nanomedicine”(Feb
2003). Our team has been
invited to medical colleges of the state to
present our topic as we were the award winning team.
- Delivered a talk on
Animal experiments in a seminar which is to be presented in the GOLDCON
conference commemorating 50 years of
medical publishing by the esteemed indexed journal” Journal of
Postgraduate Medicine”
- Represented my college and interviewed Nobel
Laureate for Medicine Sir Paul Nurse when he visited India in an
international exchange programme organized by the British Council and this
interview was put up for the benefit of the students on the
college board
2)Research Projects
- Am currently
awaiting approval for my project Socioeconomic determinants and
psychological impact of Medical Termination of Pregnancy(MTP) from the
Maharashtra University of Health Sciences
- Have worked on a
research project with Harvard International, Boston , United
States of America on a global project on HIV and AIDS.
- Am currently working on
“Epidemiological study of defaulters under RNTCP DOTS with special
reference to defaulter retrieval” which has been approved and
sanctioned by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) ( Jan 2004)
.It is my dream to eradicate TB from the country.
- Was awarded the Short
Term Research Studentship by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)
for the year 2003 for my research study titled “Tethered
cord syndrome: an analysis of
surgical experience of 48 cases.” done in the Neurosurgery department of KEM
Hospital
- Worked on a project on
HIV with the Preventive and Social Medicine Department, KEM Hospital in
collaboration with UNICEF.
3)Research articles under
way for publication :
- Brainstem
gliomas – A study of 45 cases with
p53 immunohistochemistry. It has been submitted to the indexed journal
“Indian Journal of Cancer”
- Am
working on “ Cerebral amyloid angiopathy – the first study of its kind
for the Indian population”. It has been submitted to the Bombay
Hospital Journal for publication.
4) Workshops

Have attended the workshop on Data Analysis for research sample conducted by the
Tata Institute in Social Sciences(TISS)
in Jan 2004.
- Have
attended the workshop organized by the research society of KEM Hospital on
“Research methodology
with emphasis on clinical epidemiology” conducted by Dr Sanjay Zodpey and presented the research
proposal on behalf of the team. (Apr 2003)
- Have
attended a
workshop on management and organizational skills conducted by Gautam Gouthi(nov 2003)
(III)Mensa
- Am a life member in Mensa International
(Mensa is a group of highly intellectual individuals who are in the top 1
percentile of the worlds populace in terms of their intelligence quotient
(I.Q.))
- Am the editor for the Mensa newsletter “MInd”
for the section on health and medicine
- Organized a workshop on lateral thinking

- Am the Lady’s
welfare secretary in the Students council for the year 2003-2004.

Personality in the grand junior miss personality contest for the Seth G.S . Medical college( Jan 2002)

member of the core committee which organized the annual college
festival “Aavishkaar 2003”
- Was in
the informals team for organizing the three day event in the annual
college festival Aavishkaar in Jan 2002.
(2)Fine Arts
- Was the
fine arts secretary in the college festival “Aavishkaar, 2003”
and organized 10 events in the three day festival.
- Have
cleared the Elementary and Intermediate drawing exams conducted by
the municipal body corporation, Mumbai.
- Was
felicitated by Bal Bhavan for excelling in the computer and clay modelling
course conducted by this institution
- Won
the first prize in the photography competition in the intercollegiate
festival “ Aavishkaar “ in 2003.
- Won
the first prize in mehendi in the intercollegiate festival “ Aavishkaar “
in 2003.
- Won
the second prize in the intercollegiate face painting contest
- Held
an exhibition on stainglass, murals and pots in an event sponsored
by m-seal at Y.B.Chauhan art gallery in Mumbi in 1990.

given several stage performances playing the casio and the guitar under
the guidance of music maestro Sir Jayant Mhatre.

board for the second consecutive year for the annual magazine of Seth

- Have contributed to the

(B)Quizzes, Debates and Elocutions
- Have
won quizzes conducted by
- Jaldi-Jaldi (a t.v.show telecast on doordarshan),
Big Babol , Prem Puri ashram ,Nehru Science centre,,Maggie and Twinkle by
securing prominent places amongst the other contestants.
- Have
won debates and elocutions at school and college level.
- Have
compeered several functions at school and college level.
(5)Sports
- Have
successfully undertaken a course of paragliding in Nw Zealand.
- Have scuba
dived off the coast of Australia in the great barrier reef at Cairns,
Australia
- Have
done a skiing course in Mount titlis , Switzerland and in Kulu
Manali, Himachal Pradesh.
- Have
attended numerous treks and hikes and done rappling, river rafting.
- Have participated and won in
roller skating competitions
- Have won the relay swimming
competitions at the interschool competitions

Service Activities
- Have
also been actively involved in social service activities like running of
mobile dispensaries and projects for the underprivileged workers under the
leadership of my grandfather Shri R J Mehta , President of Free Trade
Union Movement, Mumbai.

raised funds for the Bombay Disabled Association

helped in HELP AGE for senior citizens

been actively involved in the projects undertaken by LIFE

swimming, reading, group discussions, organizing events, painting, music ,
traveling, trekking and adventure sports. Have also been actively involved
